Samsung Announcing their “New High-Class Device” Tomorrow?

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

samsung-russia-high-class-device-03-19-2014

According to Samsung Russia, that would be a yes. We’ve been hearing for months now that Samsung has a high-quality device coming soon, and it appears that soon is tomorrow. Here’s what Samsung Russia stated on Twitter. “Such a thing hasn’t happened before. Tomorrow #Samsung will present it’s new high-class device to the world. Curious to know what it’d be?” Of course we’re curious! Why wouldn’t we be?

The picture that Samsung Russia tweeted out, which is shown above, we see a lady pulling out a turquoise thing out of her purse, it appears to be rectangle, and more than likely a smartphone. There’s also 5 different colored circles above the 2014.03.19 date (that’s how other parts of the world write the date, here in the US that means March 19th, 2014). The colors are turquoise, pink, white, brown and black. It’s definitely going to be very interesting to see what this “high-class” device is all about from Samsung. We’ve heard rumors of it being aluminum, also having a 2K display, and many other things. But one thing is for sure, it’s not a third flagship for Samsung, as they would have done an event for it. Heck they did an event for the Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Zoom, and Galaxy S4 Active.

So tomorrow, I guess we’ll see what Samsung has in store for us. We’ll also see what OPPO has in store with their Find 7 which will finally be announced. Which that could be why Samsung is announcing this “high-class” device tomorrow. To simply take away the spotlight from OPPO, could big ole’ Samsung be jealous? I doubt it, but it’s interesting timing to say the least.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m definitely interested to see what Samsung has in store for us tomorrow morning. As always, make sure you keep it locked to AndroidHeadlines.com for all the latest on this high-class device from Samsung tomorrow.

Carphone Warehouse Set to Begin Selling the HTC One on March 25th

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

Verizon-bound-All-New-HTC-One

According to Carphone Warehouse in the UK, the retailer will have the All New HTC One in hand on March 25th and will be selling the device. No, that’s not pre-ordering, actually selling it. So what does this mean exactly? Well it means we get to see the announcement of the All New HTC One, then we can go and pick it up, at least if you’re in the UK. According to Carphone Warehouse the All New HTC One will be available in select stores from “around 4pm” local time on the day of the announcement. So it’ll be a good idea to go ahead and give them a call before heading out, to be sure they have one in stock, since it’s “select stores”.

“Shortly after [the announcement], the new HTC One (M8) handsets will be transported directly from the venue of the launch announcement to six Carphone Warehouse stores in London. Westfield Stratford, Westfield White City, Oxford Circus, Centrepoint and Tottenham Court Road stores will all be hosting special events celebrating the HTC launch with entertainment and giveaways as well as the first chance for customers to get their hands on the new device. Carphone Warehouse at Selfridges will also be stocking the handset from the same time.”

This is huge news for HTC, and will give them a leg up on Samsung. Samsung announced the Galaxy S5 back at Mobile World Congress, and it won’t be available until April 11th, and for HTC to be announcing their new flagship and have it available the same day, that’s amazing. The only other OEM to do that was Google with the Nexus 5. Typically Apple will announce their new iPhone or iPad on a Tuesday and have it available the following Friday, roughly 10 days later. It’s definitely big news. Hopefully HTC will be able to pull this off in other regions as well, like the US. That would be the biggest news of the year I think.

Is This Leaked LG Accessory Some Sort of Wearable or Just Another Weird Stylus?

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

LG weird ah

Let’s face it, Wearable Technology is here to stay, and while it might not have found its running shoes yet, it’s off to a brisk walk at least. With industry giants like Samsung, Sony and LG all getting in on the game, it’s hard to see the wearables industry go anywhere but up. This latest leak from the infamous @evleaks however, has us scratching our heads. Frankly, we’re asking what he hell this thing is. It’s obviously something that wraps around your wrist and features a stylus at the end of it, but is it anything more than a throwback to the nineties?

Our friendly neighborhood leakster different have anything more to offer, other than simply “Wearable?” So our guess is perhaps as good as his. We’re thinking that this is too thin to be a wearable and might simply end up being a poorly thought out accessory on LG’s part. No matter what though, it’s an interesting little accessory for someone as large as LG to even think about producing. Another thing that leads us to believe that this isn’t a wearable, is that LG already has their Lifeband Touch fitness tracker-come-smartwatch on its way to market and we doubt LG wants to release too many of these things in a short space of time. Besides, why would a wearable need to have a rubber-tipped stylus at the end of it? We know that LG and Samsung both come up with some interesting ideas, but we doubt even LG could make this work.

You can take a look at the full image just below, but we’d love to hear what you have to say on this strange appearance, do you think it’s a wearable of some sort or is it simply a throwback to the days where slapping plastic against our wrists was a lot of fun? Let us know what you think in the comments below and over on Google+!

ATT Wants You To Know How They Are Building A Better Network

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

Screenshot (355)

AT&T seems to want to provide a better network for its users, as the carriers new ads actually tell us that they want to build us a better network. This definitely may be a commitment from the nations second largest wireless carrier to provide first class service to its customers, but it also acknowledges that there are flaws and little holes in the network that need patching. This is AT&T admitting those flaws, which is a good thing because they seem to be committed to improving in the areas that need improvement. At least, that’s what we’re to believe from viewing the ads. Personally, I’m more partial to their funny ads with hilarious little kids in class because kids say funny things and it gives me a laugh. However these new ads are aimed at reassuring customers that AT&T is working to make things better.

Do the new ads work? Well it’s a little too early to tell at the moment but they should certainly help. The executive director for the marketing division at AT&T says that customers are eager to know why the network may or may not work, and that they seem to want to give customers these answers by way of their new ads. They take a slightly different approach than their previous commercial ads, in that they give a somewhat complex explanation but then otherwise dumb it down into terminology that the average person understands. For anyone that has ever tried to explain certain things about how features in a smartphone work to someone that has never really used one, it’s a realistic enough description. These new ads are still kind of funny to provide some comic relief that can help relate it to everyday life.

AT&T’s goal seems simple enough. To explain to people what they actually do to improve the network, and then describe to them how it will help improve the way they use the network. Like what fine tuning the small cells will do to improve the network, and then explaining to the employee in this particular commercial that it will help be able to make posts from the break room where the coverage may have not been so great before.

Bell Places the Samsung Galaxy Gear on Clearance for just $100

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

galaxy-gear-31

The Galaxy Gear has had a pretty short life-span. It was announced at IFA last fall alongside the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. It was Samsung’s first venture into wearables, and it wasn’t an entirely bad first try. But Samsung definitely learned from the original Galaxy Gear, which is exactly what needed to happen. At Mobile World Congress, Samsung announced the Galaxy S5, and a few more wearables. They dropped the “Galaxy” in the Gear lineup and brought out the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit. The Gear 2 is the smartwatch, while the Gear 2 Neo is a slightly cheaper version, and the Gear Fit is more of a fitness tracker, which is probably my favorite.

But back to the Galaxy Gear. Right now, if you’re in Canada you can grab a Galaxy Gear from Bell for just $100, or $95.97. Now we all basically know why the price dropped about $200, it’s so that Bell can get rid of their inventory before the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo arrive alongside the Galaxy S5. So that if you’ve been thinking of picking up a Galaxy Gear, and you’re in Canada, this might be your chance to get a good price on one. According to Mobile Syrup it appears that there is a limit of three per person at checkout. But I don’t think anyone will be buying three, except for those looking to sell them later on. They also have a ton of inventory of the ivory, orange and black colors.

The Galaxy Gear is still a pretty great watch, albeit only working with the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3. Along with the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition tablet. But if you own one of those tablets or smartphones, it’s definitely a nice piece of tech to have in your collection. How many of you are planning on picking one up from Bell? Check the source link below. If you’re in the US, you can buy one from Amazon.

Rovio Shows Off Angry Birds Epic In First Official Game Trailer

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

ushuakvfdwm31jfglpbc

Last week we brought you into the fold on Rovio’s latest game venture coming up, which is a rather awesome looking little game called Angry Birds Epic that is to be an upcoming RPG based game for the company. This would mark the second title for Rovio that is part of the Angry Birds franchise that falls outside the norm for what we have come to expect with Angry Birds. The First was Angry Birds Go!, and Angry Birds Epic certainly look like it will live up to its name. We don’t know a whole lot about the games details just yet, but we do know what it should have some epic gameplay. I’m personally hoping for some extremely epic boss fights and maybe even some dungeon runs, but one thing is for sure, it will have all the crazy fun that Angry Birds is normally known for.

Today Rovio has released the first actual trailer for the upcoming Angry Birds Epic, and it gives us a nice little insight as to what we can expect from the game once it drops. It has been referred to as having a sort of similar make up to South Park: Stick of Truth, but we’re not sure whether this refers more to the visual style or the actual gameplay. When we wrote about Angry Birds Epic last week, we told you we weren’t sure whether this title would follow the same Free-To-Play model as the previous games. Well, it would appear that it definitely will, which actually makes sense when you think about it considering that Rovio stands firmly behind the F2P pay model and would seek to make future games the same. What we don’t know quite yet is if there will be any sort of in-app purchases within the game, but it’s a pretty good bet that they’ll make their way into the game somehow.

If they do show up, we’re just hoping that gameplay and progression ins’t too dependent on them, and they are implemented as more of a vanity perk than something that you might need to pay for to play any further. All of that aside, the trailer sure does make the game look it could plenty of fun. The turn based combat is something that resonates with a lot of people when you think about an RPG, so it’s nice to see that Rovio went this route.

Play Store Game Subcategories List Updated With 20 Total Categories

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

Screenshot (352)

Remember when we told you sometime ago that Google Play would be getting a nice little refresh that reorganized the games category to focus more on finding games easier? Well that update to Google Play is now live, and it spreads across tons more game categories than before, including live wallpapers and widgets that have something to do with games. Google made this announcement regarding the changes to the Play Store would be coming last year with the update due for a February arrival, and he we are in the middle of March, with those categories now being accessible and making even simpler to find the types of games that you want to play without having to search through hundreds of games just to find even one that you’re interested in.

While this doesn’t get rid of every single minor issue with the games section of the Play Store, it does get rid of most of them. Previous to this update there were merely eight categories one could search through if they wanted to provide themselves with a more organized and focused way to find a specific genre of game. After today’s update, there are now twenty total game categories you can search through to find the games you’re looking for and honestly finding games couldn’t get much easier. Widgets and live wallpapers are still there, with eighteen actual game categories. Initially the update was supposed to hit the browser version of the Play Store Games section first, with the Play Store app to follow soon after, but it seems both versions of the Play Store have been updated to support these categories as you can see from the images.

Google has also saw fit to take widgets and live wallpapers that were app and game oriented, and separate them into different sections. So basically when you search the widget and live wallpaper sections inside the games subcategories list, you will only see ones that pertain to or relate to games. That makes things easier if you actually want to find a live wallpaper that may be based off of a game. Further more, they actually have a game subcategory for Role Playing games now, which fills me with so much joy that it is impossible to put into words.
