Google I/O 2013 Preview

We are just days away from Google's 2013 developer conference. Lately rumors have been running rampant about everything under the sun being announced at Google I/O this year. From new Android hardware and software, to Project Glass, to even new Chrome OS hardware and software. We're going to preview what we think we'll see in terms of Chrome OS come Google I/O which kicks off this Wednesday, at 12 noon EDT, 9am PDT.

Google Chrome OS Updates

Most certainly we'll see a rather large Chrome OS update. We're hoping to see a big update that will bring us even more functionality to the cloud-based OS. We are expecting to see Google Now hit the desktop, and of course Babel/Hangouts should be hitting Chrome OS as well next week. Unless that whole rumor was a lie.

New Chromebook Hardware

We are mostly expecting a cheaper Chromebook Pixel. If you remember correctly, when the Pixel was still a rumor, we saw two different codenames. One was for a more expensive Chromebook, the other for a cheaper one. So it's probably a safe bet that Google will introduce the cheaper one at I/O next week.

Additionally, there's a rumor that Samsung is releasing a quad-core Chromebook this month. So what better than announcing it at Google I/O and possibly giving all attendees one?

Final Thoughts

That's about all I think we'll see from Google I/O on the Chrome side of things. Of course, I'd love to see more. But we'll have to wait until Wednesday to see what comes out. Let us know in the comments below what you're hoping for in terms of Chrome OS at Google I/O.
