And to think, we thought Samsung was crazy taking nearly 6 weeks to push the Galaxy S5 into stores where customers could buy it. Sony announced the Xperia Z2 at Mobile World Congress the same day as Samsung announced the Galaxy S5, and now we’re looking at a May release in the UK and Europe for the Xperia Z2. According to Sony it’s due to high-demand for the device, and they are working effortlessly to be sure the stock is up at all their retail channels where the Xperia Z2 is going to be sold at.
“Xperia Z2 will be available in the UK during April and we are expecting to deliver to all consumers who have placed a pre-order through our key partners. We are working tirelessly to maximise stock levels in April but currently we do not expect to meet the high demand across all our sales channels. Please stay tuned for further information and confirmed retail availability.”
So far we have no idea when or if the Xperia Z2 is coming to the US, although there was a rumor that hit our inbox earlier this week that the Xperia Z2 would be a Verizon exclusive and launch around October. Which isn’t surprising, given the nature of both companies. Verizon is always slow to release devices, and Sony always brings their devices into the US very late. However, I am going to hope that it’ll be here before then, but at this point it’s not looking good. Especially with the launch date being pushed back over in the UK and Europe.
How many of our friends across the pond are looking to grab the Sony Xperia Z2 once it’s released? It’s sure looking like a great smartphone, and one that I can’t wait to get my hands on, if it ever comes over to the US. Let us know in the comments below.
