Yesterday, the LG Zone 2 – dubbed the Optimus Zone 2 at the time – leaked out thanks to Evleaks. Which we knew it was heading to Verizon, and likely their prepaid offerings. Now it’s official as well as the Extravert 2 from LG. It appears that these are not prepaid offerings from Verizon, and the Zone 2 is going for $49.99 and the Extravert 2 for $79.99 both on two-year contracts. The Extravert 2 is available on Verizon Edge for $8.33/month however, while the Zone 2 isn’t. The full retail prices are $199.99 for the both of them. So before we take a look at the specs, remember that these are $200 phones, and they do have LTE.
The LG Zone 2 is packing 3.5-inch HVGA display, a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, 512MB of RAM, 3-megapixel camera on the back, 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and a 1700mAh battery inside. It’s also running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Looking at the Extravert 2, it has a 3.2-inch display and a sliding QWERTY keyboard. Along with a 2-megapixel camera on the back. Otherwise the internals are the same as the LG Zone 2.
So definitely not high-end devices, like the LG G2 or the LG G Pro 2. And for the price, you’d probably expect a bit more. Then again, if you’re one of those that wants a physical keyboard, this is one of your only choices these days as most OEMs aren’t doing full keyboards anymore. Not even Blackberry. They are available now on Verizon, but not Verizon prepaid. It’s rather interesting to see these on their postpaid side of things. I’m sure they’ll hit prepaid pretty soon though.
Are any of you thinking of picking up one of these devices on Verizon? Or do you want something with a bit more power, like the LG G2, or the HTC One M8? Let us know in the comments down below.
