Threes Please! Threes Game Developer Has Answered The Call, The Game Is Now Available On Android

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

If you’ve been spending all your time on the recently released game for Android called Fives, it’s time to cut that number down by two and give all your time to Threes!. Many of you may already know, and for those who don’t, Threes! was an extremely popular game on iOS, and it’s now available for Android. It’s a puzzle game where you have to match numbers on the board to get threes. Seems simple right? It is at first, but then gets increasingly more challenging and addictive. The games developer is referring to Threes! as a tiny game about matching numbers that can be learned quickly. That description is pretty much spot on. The basic idea of the game is to combine tiles to make multiples of three, and continue to do so while working towards your highest possible score before the board fills up. In a way it feels like it meshes together the stacking component of Tetris with matching up numbers for the high score factor.

The game is simple enough that anyone can pick it up, and with simple basic math skills can continue to play endlessly until your phones battery dies if you so choose. And that’s just what might end up happening if you ever decide to start playing the game in the first place. Seriously, it’s addicting. More addicting than Smash Hit,(which is still a great game)and once you begin you won’t want to put the game down. Right now the game is on sale for a limited amount of time to celebrate its Android launch, and the sale price is seemingly $1.99. That price is 33.3333333333% off according to Threes! developer, which is a quirky and humorous discount that is odd but makes complete sense given the nature of the game.

You can grab Threes! at any time from the Play Store from the link we have provided, just make sure that you don’t play it till you’re done with whatever work you might have to do during the day. Some other great parts about the game are no IAP whatsoever, so I know that many people will be happy about that specific factor to the game, it also has a great little soundtrack that the developer is describing as heart warming to lighten your mood, which might translate to keeping you from throwing your phone at the wall because you can’t seem to beat your high score.

All New HTC One Verizon Model With 32GB Of Storage Allegedly Sold On Ebay

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

m8-v1

We’re not sure what to make of this, and we certainly aren’t sure if we believe it just yet, but it appears that the Verizon Wireless model of the All New HTC One has made its way into an ebay listing auction and was reportedly sold online. HTC has not had the easiest time keeping details about the All New One under wraps, in fact, they have failed so horribly at keeping the specs, design, and seemingly everything else about the phone a secret that some people most likely lost some excitement. Nevertheless, the fact that an image of the Verizon packaging has surfaced up shouldn’t really surprise anyone as we’ve seen so many leaks at this point we should almost be expecting at least one or two a week.

The surprising part here is that this allegedly official Verizon All New One was sold on ebay. If this is true, someone who must have been a Verizon employee either got fired, or someone is just playing everyone for a fool. Most notably the person who is said to have made the purchase. That is, if the sale or auction were even real in the first place. Along with the picture of what the Verizon packaging seems to look like for the new HTC flagship device,(which is scheduled to receive the announcement on March 25th in New York and London, and is rumored to be released just two short weeks after that), the listing is said to have had the specs in it which we can’t verify because the listing auction has now ended and the link only goes to HTC One related auctions now. If this is all real and the auction was for a legitimate device, than there should be no more question about any of the specs we seem to have learned about so far. For the specs that would match up with what we’ve heard at least.

The listing apparently had the following spec sheet included. The platform was listed to have Android paired with HTC Sense which is an absolute given. We don’t think anyone would have been confused without this particular detail. Interestingly enough though it seems that the Android version was not listed, but from everything we already know the version should be Kit Kat. The CPU was listed as being the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked in at 2.3GHZ. The sim listed was of the nano size, which we saw on last years HTC One, and the storage size was listed as 32GB, with 2GB of RAM. It was also listed that the device was carrying a microSD slot for expandable storage, which we knew already as well. The other specs are the dual-lens camera with dual-led flash and UltraPixel, using a BSI sensor, and HTC image chip 2 with HDR video, and a 5MP front camera. HTC Boom Sound with dual front speakers was also listed. The display was listed as being a 1080P 5-inch display, and the connectivity rounded all the specs out with the standard 3.5mm audio port, micro USB, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX enabled, WiFi, DLNA, GPS/AGPS, NFC, and LTE.

Everything seems to match up, but we really have to wonder if the sale was real. We’ll probably know more about this in the near future. If not, all is well because we’re nearly at the announcement date for the device anyway, where HTC will tell us what all the specs are.

T-Mobile Due To Carry Both The 16GB And 32GB Models Of The Samsung Galaxy S5

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

GS5 Galaxy S5 2.2

April 11th is almost here. Ok not really, it’s still under a month away but we’re getting there, and with that day comes the launch of the Galaxy S5. The launch is hitting over 150 countries across the globe, and with that launch many carriers will be grabbing this device up to sell in stores. At least three of the major U.S. carriers were reported to be picking up this device for sale on store shelves, Sprint, At&t, and T-Mobile. T-Mobile is the focal point here, as Tmonews is reporting that Big Magenta is going to be carrying both the 16GB and 32GB models of the Galaxy S5 when it launches. So far T-mobile has amassed a large amount of pre-orders for the device which you can still get in on by going to their landing page to sign up for the pre-order, but the fact that they will be carrying both size variants is great news for many people who don’t have to worry about being limited to size constraints, or didn’t want a larger and more expensive option only.

This information was found within an internal T-Mobile memo, which made its way into the hands of Tmonews employees and now it’s here for all you T-Mobile subscribers and fans to see. As you can probably already tell from the memo, Tmo is carrying both size models of the device, but not both will be available in stores. Only the 16GB model seems to be an available option by going into a retail store,(at least for now) while the 32GB model is a web only, but you can still order the 16GB model from the website as well if this is how you normally upgrade or buy your phones.

We can also tell from the image that it looks like T-mobile has grabbed up the white version of the Samsung Galaxy S5, but there is no mention in the memo of whether or not they’ll be carrying the other color variations as well. If they do, will all colors be available in both size models? That is another question that we don’t know just yet, but as we get closer and closer to the launch of the phone those details will most likely surface.

One+ Wants Your Input On The Voice Activation Hotword For Unlocking Their Upcoming Android Device

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

oneplusah

We still haven’t seen what the One Plus One will look like, but at least we’re getting to learn some great stuff about the phone before the company officially unveils the device. Just the other day we learned about One Plus’s decision to implement a non-removable battery and why they went that route, and today we’re learning that One Plus wants to utilize voice command functions to unlock and complete other tasks or functions on the phone. Think about the hotword for the Moto X, basically One Plus is looking for a way to implement that and they took to the forums today asking people for their opinions on what they think the hotword command should be. Remember it won’t only unlock the device but also allow you to complete other tasks like potentially browsing for example. It certainly is a different approach to a phones screen unlock, and it’s nice to see them doing something different than other OEMs, although Motorola has already done this, most other OEMs are still utilizing the regular drag to unlock or a series of taps like LG, or pincodes.

So far there are a few choices that have made it to a stage of consideration, two are fairly decent while one is.. well slightly less so. And by slightly I mean it’s down right terrible. Coming from the community boards over at the One Plus Forum, the potential hotwords are either, Ok One Plus, Wake up One Plus, or Alakazam. I will applaud whoever came up with that last choice for their originality and for having a sense of humor. To be honest, I laughed a little bit. However, I feel like walking down the street while waking up your device and unlocking it to use it while stating that hotword, would garner me some rather weird stares, and I want to feel proud to use my phone with those innovative features and not feel like a 1970′s magician performing cheap magic tricks.

Here’s what One Plus had to say in regards to the whole voice activation feature when they began asking for input: Tired of unlocking your phone before interacting with it? Pins and fingerprints are a thing of the past! Ever wondered how would it be if you could command your phone to set up an alarm or do a search on Google without having to use your fingertips? The future is now! We’ve developed a new voice recognition/command feature based on Qualcomm’s technology which the Cyanogen team has implemented into our customized version of CyanogenMod OS. Now, you can train your OnePlus One to recognize your voice and perform different tasks even when the phone is locked! If you want to give your own input and vote for your favorite to ensure it becomes the wake up command for the One+ One, jump to the forum thread and get your vote in before it’s too late!

ASUS’ $179 Chromebox has Upgradeable SSD and RAM

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

asus_chromebox_frontangle_feb_2014-100244614-large

Liliputing got their hands on a demo unit of the ASUS Chromebox, which is currently on pre-order from Amazon with it launching on Friday. Liliputing tore open their Chromebox demo unit, and found out that the Chromebox can be upgraded up to 8GB of RAM, although it ships with 2GB or 4GB of RAM. You’d need two 4GB RAM sticks on the Chromebox to max it out.

Additionally, the ASUS Chromebox comes with a 16GB SSD which is swappable for a larger SSD. So you could probably opt for a 64GB or even a 128GB SSD inside. ASUS also states that you won’t void the warranty by opening the case.

Remember the ASUS Chromebox is only $179, so these specs are actually pretty good. Considering it’s basically a desktop running Chrome. It’ll be on sale starting this Friday, March 14th. It’s not the first Chromebox out there, but it’s the first one we’ve seen in a couple of years, which is nice to see them back, and nice to see ASUS jump on-board the Chrome OS wagon.

So we can upgrade a $179 Chromebox to 8GB of RAM and an even larger SSD. Which is definitely a great thing to be able to do. Liliputing does say that with the Chromebox you get the dock, so you can dock it on the back of your monitor, as well as a mouse and keyboard. Which aren’t going to be the best mouse and keyboard, but it’s better than nothing. Obviously there’s no monitor in the box, but you can get a nice monitor for under $200 which is also nice to see.

If you’re interested in pre-ordering the ASUS Chromebox, you can do so here. And check out Amazon for some new RAM sticks for the ASUS Chromebox as well. How many of you are tempted to pick up the ASUS Chromebox? Let us know in the comments below.

Slimmest Phone Ever – Gionee Elife S5.5 Will be Available in Markets on 18th March for $374

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

Gionee-Elife-S5.5

It seems that the time is right for Chinese manufacturers to try and gain toe-holds in the Western world. We had reported earlier on the world’s slimmest smartphone at least that is the tagline that the Chinese manufacturer Gionee had propagated on announcing the device. In order to differentiate itself from its home-base competitors, Gionee had announced the Elife S5.5 which can only be called anorexic, with a 5.5 mm waistline. Just to set a perspective, the Apple iPhone 5S is 7.6 mm thick whereas the LG-made Google Nexus 5 is 8.6 mm thick. If Gionee’s claim is believed, the Elife S5.5 edges out Vivo’s X3 from the spotlight (the Vivo X3 was crowned the slimmest at 5.75mm). The Chinese manufacturer also goes on to claim that despite its slim profile, the Elife S5.5 will not disappoint on battery life thanks to its 2300 mAh battery – which (as claimed by Gionee) would last all day.

Apart from its profile and battery life, the Gionee Elife S5.5 sports a 5 inch Super AMOLED display offering a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, an octa-core Mediatek MT6592 chipset clocked at 1.7 GHz, with 2 GB RAM. Internal storage is limited at 16 GB, expansion is not possible as Gionee had to forgo the MicroSD slot given the slim profile. The device boasts a 13 mega pixels (MP) primary camera and a 5 MP front facing video call camera.

The 3G variant of the Gionee Elife S5.5 will launch on 18th March in China. As promised by Gionee, the smartphone will be made available in 40 countries gradually, while the LTE variant will be available from June this year. The 3G variant of the device, as rumored earlier, has been confirmed to set you back by $374, while pricing for the LTE variant is yet to be announced.

However, the slim profile on the device begs the question – how slim is slim enough? Do you feel 5.5 mm is too slim or is it just perfect for you? Let us know in the comments below.

It also comes with 50GB of Dropbox storage for those that love using Dropbox, like myself.
