22% of US School Districts Now Using Chromebooks

Its looking more and more like the future of the PC is in the cloud, or is it just Chrome OS? Chromebooks are pretty cheap, unless you're looking at the Chromebook Pixel. The Acer and Samsung Chromebooks are $199 and $249 respectively. Making it very easy for school districts to use them for teaching.

Today, Google's VP of product management for Chromebooks stated that 22% of school districts in the US are using Chromebooks. That doesn't give us an exact number of how many Chromebooks that is. But it's definitely a lot. Caesar Sengupta, the VP of product management for Chromebooks, did state that Google sold 175,000 Chromebooks between June 30 and September 7th.

“We are heavily investing in Chromebooks. There’s two different segments we care a lot about: consumers … and K-12 schools."
It's great to see Chromebooks in schools instead of seeing everyone with a Macbook. It's also much cheaper for school districts to supply their students with Chromebooks, about $200 a pop isn't bad at all.
