Gary Oldman Stars In The First Commercial For The New HTC One M8

The HTC live event stream and announcement events have been over for a little while, and some of the buzz over the device is starting to die down, but what everyone has undoubtedly noticed about HTC and their new device this year is that they have yet to do much advertising. Perhaps most of that is due to the device being announced only a short time ago, but nevertheless the wait is over. The first commercial for HTC’s new flagship 2014 smartphone is here. Last year was Robert Downey Jr., this year they’ve enlisted Gary Oldman and his slick british accent to take over the airwaves and really sell the blah blah out of this new device.

Seriously, that’s the gist of the new commercial. A lot of Blah blah blah, and really that’s about it. The idea here is that we can talk about he all new HTC One all we want. We can mention all the improvements over the old One, we can talk about the new duo camera, the sleeker more comfortable design in the hand, and the brighter, more vibrant screen with explosive color, but Gary Oldman wants you to know that all those things we have to say about the device is just a bunch of blah blah blah. Basically, It doesn’t matter what we say about the phone, because the new HTC One M8 is a phone for people who form their own opinions. This is quite a bit of a different approach to what HTC did last year, but we rather like what they’ve decided to do and hopefully it makes more of an impact. We have to agree that advertising all those awesome intense features is just more hype. You can listen to us talk about the cool new features all day, but ultimately it comes down to your decision, your choice.

This is the message that HTC and Gary Oldman are trying to convey. You’ll see plenty about the new devices getting launched here in the next couple months, and you will most certainly see more from Samsung about the best new device this year,(hint, they will tell you it’s the Galaxy S5)but in the end it comes down to what you like. Take some advice from Gary Oldman and go ahead and ask the internet. All you really have to do is simply look at the facts. Glaze over the specs, the new features, and design of the new device, and decide for yourself. Will this be the new phone for you? HTC is hoping so, but they’re not going to shove features down your throat to convince you. Listen to Commissioner Gordon, form your own opinion.
