via AndroidHeadlines.com |

Screen Shot 2014-03-26 at 12.50.28 PM

While the HTC One is available from Verizon stores right now, and you can even order it from other retailers like Amazon and have it arrive within a couple of days. Some might want the unlocked or developer edition of the HTC One. Well those are now available for pre-ordering. Both on Amazon and HTC’s website.

On HTC’s website the developer edition is available in gunmetal gray and amber gold, while the unlocked version is available in gunmetal gray, amber gold and glacial silver. Both of which are selling for $649, which is still $50 cheaper than the HTC One (M8) Google Play Edition – still puzzling as to why it’s so expensive. HTC will be shipping out your brand new shiny HTC One (M8) in about 1-2 weeks.

Over on Amazon, they have the unlocked HTC One (M8) available in Glacial silver for $649. While the gunmetal gray and amber gold are “temporarily out of stock”. The Glacial Silver is available for pre-order now and shipping out on March 31st. While the Glacial Silver and Amber Gold are available for pre-order as well, but no word on when they will be shipping out.

So for those of you looking to pick up HTC’s latest flagship device, the One (M8), feel free to head over to either HTC or Amazon’s website and pre-order your unlocked or developer edition today. The HTC One has a 5-inch 1080p Super LCD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor inside with 2GB of RAM 32GB of storage and a microSD card slot. There’s also a 2600mAh battery inside and it’s running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6 on board. It’s definitely a great device, but the only downside appears to be the camera, and it’s not all that terrible actually. Unless you’re one who prints pictures you take with your smartphone.

PSA: HTC One (M8) Uses a Nano-SIM; Be Sure to Grab a SIM Cutter!

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

HTC NEW One 1.92 AH

Much like the Moto X, Moto G, DROID Maxx, DROID Mini and DROID Ultra – also the iPhones – the HTC One (M8) uses a nano SIM. Which is the smallest SIM card available right now. So if you’re buying the HTC One (M8) as an upgrade, you’re probably going to need to either head out to your carrier store and grab a new SIM card once your HTC One is in hand, or you’ll need a SIM cutter. Which I think is the better choice since it’ll also come with a SIM adapter, so if you want to switch back to a phone with a micro SIM card, you’re all set.

It’s actually very easy to cut down your SIM card. I had to buy one for my Moto X late last year, and it was really simple to do. Just place your SIM card in the tray, push it into the slot in the SIM card cutter and push down. Then your basically all done. It’s really just that simple.

However, if you don’t want to cut down your SIM card, you can always head to your wireless carrier store and get a new one. Typically they’ll give you one for free, but you’ll want to wait until your HTC One (M8) is in hand before doing that because your existing SIM card will no longer work. You could also order another one from the likes of StraightTalk, or Simple Mobile. They both have nano sized SIM cards available and are MVNO’s of AT&T. Basically they run on AT&T’s network and are much cheaper.

Just a PSA to let everyone know before their HTC One arrives, that it’s going to need a nano SIM card and not a micro. If anyone has any questions about cutting down their SIM card, be sure to let us know in the comments below.

T-Mobile Announces Pricing and Availability of the HTC One M8

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

HTC NEW One 3.1 AH

So I’d like to start this post off by saying we made a mistake yesterday. We were stating all day long that pre-orders were open for T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. They were only open for AT&T and Sprint. T-Mobile has been quiet until now. It appears that they aren’t doing pre-orders at all though.

On April 11th, T-Mobile will begin selling the HTC One M8. It’ll be available for $0 down and $26.50 per month, which equates to about $636. Which is about what we’ve seen as full price at other carriers, and it’s still a lot cheaper than the Google Play Edition which is $699. Obviously the $0 down is for those with good credit, but you can also buy the HTC One M8 for full retail from T-Mobile if you’re interested, and choose one of their Simple Choice plans and be completely contract free.

By now, I’m sure you’re aware of their Simple Choice Plans. Which start at $50 and go up to $80. They all include unlimited minutes and texts as well as international roaming data on 2G/EDGE networks. Additionally the $50 plan includes 1GB of high-speed data, $60 gets you 3GB of high-speed data and $70 gets you 5GB of high-speed data. After that you are throttled down to 2G speeds, which are not fun. Now the $80 plan – which is what I have – is unlimited everything no throttling at all. And I can attest to them not throttling on the $80 plan because I’ve used 16GB so far this month and still getting great speeds.

So now we have pricing and release details for all of the US carriers for the HTC One M8. How many of you out there are planning on picking up the HTC One M8 from T-Mobile? Or another carrier? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.

Sprint’s HD Voice Network Going Nationwide in July

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

Sprint Logo 1

Currently, Sprint’s HD Voice network is pretty small. It’s only available in two markets which are Provo, Utah, and Jacksonville, Florida. However, Sprint’s CEO stated this morning that they are bringing their HD Voice network nationwide this summer, actually July 1st to be exact. Currently Sprint’s HD Voice footprint is rather small, however the amount of devices that support HD Voice is rather large. They include the Google Nexus 5, HTC EVO 4G LTE, HTC One, HTC One Max, Kyocera Hydro Edge, Kyocera Torque, LG G2, LG Optimus F3, LG Optimus G, Moto X, Samsung Galaxy Mega, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and Samsung Galaxy S3. That’s it for Android phones. They also will be supporting a range of the iPhones, Blackberry and Windows Phones as well, for those that use other platforms.

While many people probably don’t care much about HD Voice, it is something nice to have. These days most of us don’t talk on the phone much, we basically use our phone for everything but using it as a phone. However, after using HD Voice on T-Mobile for a good little while now, I can say that it’s definitely a good thing, even if you only make one or two phone calls a month.

Now T-Mobile’s CEO might be looking to bash Sprint now for launching HD Voice – since he bashed AT&T for launching it this year as well. But then again maybe he won’t, especially if Sprint and T-Mobile are in talks about merging. I’ve noticed lately that he’s been laying off of Sprint, possibly due to Sprint looking to buy the carrier. For those of you on Sprint, with one of the smartphones that will work with HD Voice, you’re going to love it!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 Render Pops Up on Twitter

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

galaxy_tab_4_evleaks

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 is coming, and we all know it. It’s been leaking out off and on for a few months now. And Samsung usually refreshes that line of tablets around this time of year. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see them announce the Galaxy Tab 4 in a few weeks or so. Today, Evleaks leaked out a couple of press renders of the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0. The render in black, is above, you can see looks just like Samsung’s recent tablets. The Galaxy TabPRO 8.4, 10.1, and 12.2. Complete with the same wallpaper, same physical home button, same recents and back capacitive buttons as well. However, since we are looking at the front, it’s hard to tell whether it has a faux leather back like the Galaxy TabPRO and Galaxy NotePRO tablets have. But I’d venture to guess that they do have that same faux leather backing.

There’s not much known about the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 just yet, but I wouldn’t expect a high-end tablet, that’s what the Galaxy TabPRO line is for. Probably more along the lines of mid-range specs like a Exynos 5 Octa processor, a 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, etc. Of course that’s all speculation and nothing is leaked, rumored or confirmed just yet.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 will likely come along side an 8-inch and 10-inch Galaxy Tab 4 when they finally get announced. Hopefully we’ll learn more soon, since Samsung did say they were going to put out a lot of tablets this year and take that market share away from the iPad. Which the way they do that is pushing out a ton of tablets in every size imaginable and every price point as well. It’s a good idea, as long as you can support them all and update them all pretty quickly. Which Samsung has been doing lately.

Deal: Acer C720 Chromebook Refurbished for $149; Or 128GB SSD for $239.98

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

Acer-C720-Review-AH-2

Amazon has a great deal on the Acer C720 Chromebook going on right now. Acer is actually selling a refurbished version of the C720 on Amazon right now for just $149. Which is a pretty good deal, since it’s being sold by Acer, you know it’s still in great shape. This one is the 16GB SSD version along with 2GB of RAM, which is normally $199, so you can easily save about $50 by buying the refurbished one through Amazon. Additionally, the SSD inside is upgradeable. So you can grab the MyDigitalSSD 128GB for just $89.99 and upgrade the SSD yourself, which is pretty simple to do actually. But with a Chromebook you really don’t need to do it, since everything is stored in the cloud, literally.

I reviewed the Acer C720 and the C720P earlier this year and late last year. I was pretty impressed with both Chromebooks from Acer. Especially with the battery life. With it having a Haswell chip inside, I was able to get around 7-9 hours of battery life before needing to charge it up. Which I think is pretty darn good. If you’re interested in the Acer C720, I definitely recommend it and the links to buy it are down below.

Sprint’s CNO Says Spark will See Peak Speeds of 120Mbps by end of 2014, 180Mbps by end of 2015

via AndroidHeadlines.com |

Sprint Logo 6.4

Sprint Spark is a new “technology” that Sprint is pushing now that many of us have been skeptical of. Because we’ve been waiting for Sprint to get their speeds up to par with their competition for quite some time. Yes, they did make a few bad decisions in the past like using WiMax instead of LTE. Which put them behind their competition, pretty far behind. But one of the main things Sprint’s Chairman, Masayoshi Son – also Softbank CEO – wants is to bring in much faster speeds into the US and drop monthly wireless bill prices. Son has said before that our monthly wireless bills here are some of the highest, while we have some of the slowest wireless networks. Which is completely true. There was a study done recently, and the US had the second slowest wireless network.

Sprint’s Chief Network Officer, John Saw, was interviewed by Fierce Wireless this week about Sprint Spark. For those that don’t know, Sprint Spark is Sprint’s tri-band LTE network that is supposedly going to bring us theoretical speeds of about 120mbps. Which is pretty darn good. According to Saw, Sprint is pushing out their Spark network as a two carrier configuration this year, and moving to a three carrier configuration in 2015. Which will allow for peak speeds of 180mbps. Now it’s important to note that these peak and theoretical speeds will probably never be seen in real life. But you will probably get closer to 100mbps and 150mbps in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Now these speeds that Sprint’s Chief Network Officer is saying we’ll see by the end of this year and by the end of next year are pretty crazy. I’d love to see these speeds on Sprint and see the other carriers step up. Hopefully they have a great backhaul back there too for the areas that have a ton of Sprint customers, as that seems to be an issue in a lot of areas for Sprint right now. How many of our readers are still on Sprint, and hoping that Masayoshi Son can turn around the nation’s #3 wireless carrier? Let us know in the comments below.
